Part 3: OjoOido’s Home Study Environment: Treat Home as an Extension of School

One of the most effective habits you can teach your child is to study in one place. Create a particular location at home where your child can study. An effective workplace is one that has adequate space, is well lit, and is reasonably free from distractions.

Part 4: OjoOido’s Home Study Environment: Limit Distractions

Control and limit meaningful distractions, such as the telephone, television, vocal music and interruptions from others, during study time, particularly during difficult tasks. Worry less about non-vocal background noise during easy and routine assignments.

Part 5: OjoOido’s Home Study Environment: Monitoring Times Spent on Home Study

The two primary reasons your child needs to study at home are to complete homework assignments and/or to study for tests. Homework improves learning. The amount of homework increases as your child progress from elementary to high school.

Part 6: OjoOido’s Home Study Environment: Communicate with your Child’s Teacher

You must discuss with your child’s teacher the amount of time that he or she is expected to spend on homework. If your child is not spending the adequate or recommended amount of time doing homework, it is your responsibility to found out why.

Part 7: OjoOido’s Home Study Environment: Time Management for Test Preparation

In addition to homework, your child may need to study for tests at home. Studying for tests may involve rereading, reviewing and outlining notes, or making study cards. You, in collaboration with your child’s teacher, should assist your child in determining how much time is typically needed to learn the classroom material and help your child plan enough time into his or her schedule.

Good study skills will provide your child with the basic tools needed to succeed in school. So, what can you do to help? Join OjoOido.com and let us show you how to help your child become a successful student.  See. Hear. Learn!
